This year, CMAP received 122 total applications from 96 different applicants, the most applications received to date. We have selected 30 new technical assistance projects that support communities with ADA compliance, transportation safety, and other long-term planning needs. I’ve outlined the projects that fall into your district below. To learn more about these projects, please visit the 2024 Project Awards for Technical Assistance program guide.
CMAP is the comprehensive regional planning organization for northeastern Illinois. Annually, in partnership with the Regional Transportation Authority (RTA), CMAP puts out a call for projects to the 284 municipalities in the region, as well as eligible nonprofits, neighborhood groups, and other organizations needing assistance. Our technical assistance program supports communities by offering planning and implementation assistance, providing interagency expertise, leveraging the region’s transit network, and building local government capacity.
The program is primarily funded by federal metropolitan planning funds that were reauthorized and increased with the passage of the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act. Thanks to Rebuild Illinois, our region had the matching funds needed to secure our full share of these increased federal metropolitan planning funds.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have.
