After more than two years without a budget, on Sunday lawmakers narrowly approved a permanent large increase in the individual and corporate income tax rates in Illinois. Shortly after that vote, a spending plan for Fiscal Year 2018 was also approved.
While both bills are expected to be approved in the Senate, Governor Bruce Rauner has vowed to veto the measures when they hit his desk.
